Harvest Dream

The young maiden is pure. She is kneeling to symbolize preparation for womanhood or for marriage. The Corn in her flat basket symbolized a spiritual prosperity. Hard work and prayer brings to a Hopi woman her harvest dream. The flowing design represents her beautiful over the shoulder dress called the manta and is drawn across one shoulder. Her necklaces are a sign of the families wealth that she will hand down to the next generation. She has no face for she symbolizes the egalitarian society of the Hopi people, not an individual. The Hopi thought is: One Mind, one body, one Spirit.

This is large sculpture and was designed with an entry way or sofa table in mind.
